Inspired by static display aircraft at a nearby air show, I thought I'd introduce the activity of building plastic scale models to my son. I thought it might be a constructive diversion from the video games. Having done some of this with my father as a kid, I felt it could work well as a father/son shared activity that is constructive, creative, and teaches important skills such as patience and attention to detail. In addition to gaining useful skills, the subject matter interested us enough to promote historical and technical research on the subjects for which we are modeling.

I started this process by first assembling a few inexpensive kits as test beds for learning the basics of construction, painting and finally detailing. My intention was get a handle on the skills and ultimately pass these skills to my son and letting him run with it. To my surprise, I got hooked.

As he and I got a few models under our belts and our skills progressing, I decided to create this site to facilitate sharing of photos and information for others sharing this interest.

Thanks for stopping by,
